Kylie Campbell
March 4th 2006 - November 30th 2021
Kylie was a part of our family, our friend, our companion, for nearly 16 years. She leaves a remarkable legacy of love and memories which right now squeeze our hearts but in time we know will bring us joy in reflection.
Kylie was always eager to please and eager to learn. So smart. So athletic. She nearly floated when she ran. She would run and catch “squirrels”, for as long as someone would stand and throw them, and make it look graceful. Her timing always impeccable. Al wore bare spots in the back yard where he stood throwing them to her. We laid field stones to cover where the grass would no longer grow, and they remain as a tribute to their bond and outdoor fun. She liked walks but given a choice she would always rather play.
Kylie was such a good sport. She wore Hallowe’en costumes and sat with Santa Claus. She had a sense of humour and would give you wry looks at appropriate times. She would bark, and even occasionally fall asleep with toys in her mouth! She would snuggle with her adopted sister Sloane in car rides to the lake and inspired Sloane to run to catch balls too. (At first Sloane didn’t get the point.)
Together, we all enjoyed our cottage time, swimming and hiking and being outdoors as much as possible. As Kylie got older she began to have some arthritis and mobility issues and gracefully (but gradually) gave up some of her former loves her body could no longer perform. But still, she always remained game in spirit and an engaged part of family life. Kylie seemed to accept her limitations with grace and was such a trooper. She was an “old soul”, and you sensed a wisdom about her. Recently, degenerative myelopathy started its progression – a battle she could not win and would only worsen for her.
She was the “best dog of the world”.
That’s what we always told her, and she was, and always will be, to us.
Kylie, Oh So loved…. so missed…she will forever be remembered in our hearts.
Kylie will forever be loved and missed by Jackie, Sydney & Natalie and Drew along with Kristen, Hanna and Brooks and the many friends, relatives, neighbours, and care providers that helped Kylie over her years.
Special loving mention of Dear Al who is now getting all the snuggles, cuddles, and play time with Kylie as they’ve been reunited at the Rainbow Bridge
